I have ‘grown up’ in the Advertising and Marketing industry and I guess it never really leaves your system – much like riding a bike!

My first experience on 2 wheels was when I was about 8 or 9 years old. My late father was bike mad, and had all the latest toys….. He then discovered off road bikes, and my first bike was an Italjet 50cc off road, which we used to load on the trailer, and go out to Back of the Moon with, and play in the sand!!!

I graduated to my very own first “real” bike 4 years ago and I haven’t looked back...

I joined Think Bike in 2008 and quickly got involved in everything – I tend not to do things in half measures!!!

I have been on the Committee for the last 2 ½ years and I am more passionate about what we do than ever. When I first joined the committee, I was told by Stranger and ZxMax, that I had no choice but to become a Marshal (I was the only NC member at that stage who wasn't a Marshal, so I bit the bullet, did the training, and today I am honoured to be part of the phenomenal team of people who are the Think Bike Marshals.

I am currently the Company Secretary, but I also look after the Online Shop, and I am very involved in Memberships too. I am SmartTart’s 2ic!

As my role as Company Secretary involves in wearing a different hat every 5 minutes, it is my challenge to ensure that Face of Think Bike is held in high regard. I have taken on the task of ensuring that all the admin is updated and proper records are kept, so in the event of a member calling for something, I have it on hand, and am able to assist. Changing to a Section 21 Company has been a challenge for everyone involved as there are a million things that need to be considered – but although there is a steep climb ahead, I will get to the top and raise the Brand to new heights. I can only do this with the support of the Directors and all the Portfolio Heads.

I am also a support to the 5 Directors and the Portfolio Heads, and I assist them whatever they need.

My signature on the forum pretty much sums me up - that's me... “I never try anything – I just do it”

I have been involved in the training industry for many years now, and being organized has become a finely tuned art for me!

A few years ago, my husband was killed when a car took a gap in front of him. At the time my 3 kids wanted to know how come cars didn't notice bikers and why nobody did anything about making cars more aware of Dads on bikes. I didn't have the answers back then, but I promised them then that we would find a way to help - and that I would do whatever I could to try prevent other children and families from going through what they were feeling.

We moved from Johannesburg down to Cape Town and a few months later, we came across Think Bike and ordered some stickers for our car online. I knew then, that I had found a way to help my kids, and myself, to find the answers we were looking for, but more importantly, we could help to try and prevent others from having to deal with we did.

To cut a long story short, I joined the Forum, offered my help and got involved from a perspective of doing TB presentations at schools. I figured that if I could go in from grass roots, and get the message out there, it would be of some worth. A short while later I was invited to join the regional team of the Western Cape. So, while my road to finding Think Bike was unfortunately not an extremely happy one, I now feel I am able to make a difference in people’s lives and talking from experience often helps with this.

Early this year I approached by the Directors to take up the challenge of heading up the Western Cape region, and I am in the process of growing my dynamic team down here, so that we can branch out, and continue spreading the message!

My love of Think Bike, and the message of Raising Awareness and Saving Lives has had a profoundly positive impact on my kids, and in making a difference in other’s lives, I find a deep sense of solace. I have even started riding again and have been blessed to be able to start a new life with my Fiancé Az!

So, when it comes to the Western Cape or Membership, please feel free to get hold of me and I’ll help in any way I can!
